# Muware moderation: ban, kick, mute, purge, and roles

> Moderate your server with Muware: ban, kick, softban, mute, unmute, unban, purge messages, search bans, check infractions, and manage roles.

Muware's mod commands cover the usual stuff: getting rid of people, shutting them up for a bit, cleaning up chat, and handling roles. Reasons are optional on all of them.

## Punishments

### ban

```text theme={null}
,ban <user> [reason]
```

Bans them and DMs them the reason.

```text Example theme={null}
,ban @someone spamming
```

### kick

```text theme={null}
,kick <user> [reason]
```

Kicks them and DMs them the reason.

### softban

```text theme={null}
,softban <user> [reason]
```

Bans then unbans them, so their recent messages get deleted. They can join back.

### mute

```text theme={null}
,mute <user> <time> [reason]
```

Times them out. Time looks like `10m`, `1h`, or `2d`. Alias: `timeout`.

```text Example theme={null}
,mute @someone 1h calm down
```

### unmute

```text theme={null}
,unmute <user> [reason]
```

Takes the timeout off and DMs them why.

### unban

```text theme={null}
,unban <user>
```

Unbans them. No DM for this one.

## Cleanup and lookups

### purge

```text theme={null}
,purge <1-100> [bots:true/false] [member:<user>]
```

Wipes messages. Add `bots:true` to only hit bot messages, or `member:` to only hit one person. Alias: `clean`.

```text Example theme={null}
,purge 50 member:@someone
```

### bansearch

```text theme={null}
,bansearch <name>
```

Looks through your bans for names that look like that.

### infractions

```text theme={null}
,infractions <user>
```

Shows what Muware already punished them for. Aliases: `warns`, `history`.

<Note>
  This only shows stuff Muware did. If someone got banned by hand or by another bot, it won't be here.
</Note>

## Roles

```text theme={null}
,role add <user> <role>
,role remove <user> <role>
,role edit <role> color/name/permission <value>
```

Give someone a role, take it away, or change a role's color, name, or permissions.

```text Example theme={null}
,role add @someone Members
```
